Quilled Heart!!

Hello all..

Last few days, media has a jackpot with big stories. Yeah. You know them. Most awaited elections in the world and the second one is completely unexpected and now most unwanted(mostly by politicians from opposition parties) DEMONETISATION. The US presidential elections results were really surprising! But more surprising is Mr. Modi's decision to cancel big notes! Indian media is going crazy over this news talking about the negatives it is causing to the common man! It is definitely causing issues to common man but all of us are ready to face them for a better future. Aren't we? In my opinion, we humans are against any change even if it brings some good to us because we love to live in our own cocoons of comfort zones and even a slight change will cause mayhem. Lets stop magnifying the problems we are facing and will face for some more days and think about the big picture!!

Coming to the quilled work for today.. I just poured out my heart for quilling this :-) Started with making the flowers. It took couple of trails to get the three dimensional look. For the leaves I have used the crepe paper and thin wires. Here comes the hard part to get the heart shape from the regular G wire which is lying at home and then wrapping it with crepe paper for the blue heart <3  We are almost there..It's time to assemble everything in place. Loved it <3<3 Instead of framing it, I am just hanging it on the wall...

Some of the in progress pictures this time :-)

Thats it for now guys..Off I go cousin's wedding..Pretty excited:-) :-) Have a great weekend!!

Miniature world!!!

Hello all,

Hope you all had a great Diwali. This year I was planning to celebrate the festival of lights in its true spirit i.e. no sound and air pollution!! Wanted to light only diyas and candles but not crackers.. With  DIY spirit high this year, I hand painted any glass jar at my dispense and converted them to candle jars. Was so excited to light them all. I will share those jars in a separate post( yes.. u have to wait)!!! In the last minute plans, we went to friend's place for a get-together and there was no limit for sweets, food delicacies, FUN and of course CRACKERS...Though reluctant for some time, I was in the front to empty most of the crackers..shame on me :-(
I have noticed one of the neighbors during our fun time... instead of firing crackers and contributing to the pollution, they were planting saplings in the evening. Not only they are following pollution free festival, they were contributing to the society by spreading greenery...great way of celebrations. A reminder for the rest of us!!!

Coming to the quilled creations, today we are going to see some miniatures I have made as fridge magnets!! This cute teddy was an inspiration from one of the blogs I follow. This was a favorite of many. Have made it couple of times.

Isn't he cute <3
Look at these 3 cuties.. I have two close friends from work who moved to different cities now . When we planned for a reunion with families, made these teddies as a reunion gift. Their kids absolutely loved them :-)

Named them 3 IDIOTS :-)
Little birdie. Inspiration for this is..Long story short..There was lake before our house and a regular visitor to this lake was a kingfisher..When I was asking Mr.husband for an inspiration, he suggested the bird and there it is..now the bird is a permanent occupant of our fridge and he shares it with some more miniatures(On their way to the blog soon):-)

This is it for now..have a great week...Give it a thought about your approach for next Diwali...I made my decision..it's going to be pollution free..this time words in action.. no changes!!!!

Handmade gifts!!

Lazy me...It took so many days to start this post ...

With me doing quilling more vigorously and trying new stuff, I am loving making things and gifting people.. .There is always a special feel when you receive any handmade gift...It just tells us that they have spent some precious time in thinking and making a gift rather than a store bought one.

Here are some..I made a photo frame for BIL's birthday.... Totally love the way few basic things like cardboard, hand made paper and some quilling ..transformed into a beautiful frame.. Have tried Husking, Quilling comb and Beehive techniques to do the grass, tree and the flower (in right bottom of the frame) respectively...

Which part do you like most!!Colorful tree or Grass or Rainbow or The clouds...My personal favorite is clouds <3 <3

I love book reading...There were times I used to read books till late night and still remember the struggl to wake up in the morning to reach office...Now a days I am not reading much..not because of lack of time...My laziness plays a big part here...For self motivation, I made this bookmark for myself by recycling an old calendar for the heart and some old twine ....

Just to see this book mark, I open my books once in a while ;-) What to do..Lazy me dominating the reader in me ....

Don't you love those three flowers!!
Thats all for now guys...I would love to see your comments in my blog :)

Just back from mom's place after having great time for couple of weeks... I was thinking on the topic to write about and what's best .. here u go.. my mom.. an all rounder... Those who know her in person will agree with me.she does everything.. she is the best cook.. she is into stitching... designing.... embroidery....crocheting..all DIY stuff.. what not.. everything....she is very artistic and creative.. Until recently, I used to wonder why is her creative gene dint come to me.. now I think it is slowly coming to me... Seeing my mom juggle between all these works and yet have that passion in everything she does...it definitely inspires.... Love her energy <3 <3

Last year I wanted to quill something to my mom on her birthday..I was considering so many things but finally tried this mighty peacock...I really loved the way it turned out with its beautiful colors..Mom was quite happy to receive this... Now our national bird is sitting proudly in her living room..Once in a while the selfish me thinks to steal it from her ;-).

Google...The best...

Few years before, there was a time I was not having much work and bored to death at workplace.. When I told this to one of my friends.. he told me that if he has internet connection and Google with him.. He never gets bored ..I was asking him what would you Google about and he said anything and everything... Those days, my usage of Google was very limited.. To put in a better way.. I haven't mastered the art of googling then:-) Over the years I caught the interest in using Google and now I completely agree with my friend... As they say.. Google uncle has everything with him... You ask him about latest news... technology ...hobby ideas.. arts..crafts....blogs... you name it.....he will give it right away...In present times, with so many people who are very patient to write tutorials and making videos about how to paint, cook, sew.... to inspire us.... We are very lucky.... You can pickup any hobby that interests you. Go ahead and explore...add your creativity to it...and make sure you enjoy the process ...like I do:-)

Coming to quilling, with paper strips people create colorful flowers.. some create flowers which look so real and life like.... Some just go with their creativity to come up with wonderful color combinations in flower making ... Well ... I myself tried making some flowers ( I am yet to explore my creative gene  :-) )... and made a flower arrangement...Then framed it in hand made frame..yeah I made the frame also with cardboard, thermocol sheet .. hand made paper ..and lots of pins.... I like the way it turned out.. hope you also like it :-).

Malaysian Flower(Don't know why they named so...)

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi everyone.

From cooking to quilling....

After the pat on my shoulder for my first post...here I come with another one..

Before I came across quilling...I was kind of crazy about cooking..  I was following different food blogs.. Knowing about many mouth watering dishes... trying them at home after having a long day at work. All I do was sauteing.... frying... cooking....baking.... Trust me, those were the days my dear husband loved the most :-) But this hobby definitely added few extra inches to our waist lines. Then came my mom with a timely warning... Thanks to moms... They are the best check points any one of us can ever have:-)...I had to give cooking a rest (of course we do enjoy occasional extra calories)....That is when I came across quilling and no way I will give it a rest at any cost:-)

Yummy chocolate cake I made.

By this time, I have tried basic shapes of quilling and it's time to get hands on with some new techniques... Here I have tried husking to make a farewell card to one of my friends at work.... she absolutely loved it(In return I got great feedback from my colleagues. That's the best gift any one can ask for)...

I was trying to make sunflower for the card but it was wayyyy tooooooo big to fit in the card. So I have decided to add color to my television(yeah.. the colors in the TV were not enough for me;-)). It is sitting beautifully on the corner and it definitely catches everyone's eye... Happy me....

Okay.... I know you are all having good rest over the weekend...well...carry on.....and we will catch up next week.

My first ever blog post...huraayyyy..:) :)

Hello everyone..

After so much pushing from friends and family...finally I have dared to create a new blog to include you all in my Quilling journey......its been wonderful so far and I am sure we all are going to enjoy the ride and have great fun :) :)

It all started around two years ago...I was just googling around and fortunately I came across these wonderful creations all with paper and till then I din't know there is an art named Quilling ...Thats the moment I fell in love with quilling and paper of course:) I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw so many wonderful and lovely creations by many artistic people..I dint know we can make so much with paper.....I couldn't resist myself from trying the art of Quilling and I am telling you.. Thats the best thing that has happened ...

There are so many wonderful bloggers who have guided me and any small and stupid doubt(I get most of them ;-)) ...you can refer to their blogs and voila....you get an answer in their posts....thanks to those gurus(who don't know they have a student :)).

Ok...Enough said and read(I can see a grin on your face ;-))...Here are some of my works in the initial days of my quilling journey...

This one I made as a card for my brother's wedding....

This one for a close one's birth day :)

Please don't mind the poor picture quality... now I have learnt that you need good natural light to get your works nicely photographed :) :)

Thats all for now..Hope you like my attempts... Please leave a comment :) :)
